QU - The product

Quantiful are market leaders in the use of social and search data for analytics, marketing and demand planning optimisation.

The demand planning platform takes both real-time and historical global demand data from over 90 sources including social, search, media and econometric.

Using advanced machine learning analytics it then compares and contrasts this with clients transactional sales data in order to predict trends, consumer demand, significantly increase SKU level forecasts with unprecedented accuracy, identify market opportunities, reduce waste and increase financial results.

Trust...

I Joined Quantiful during sprint 4 of 11 in the efforts to release a product to market. I had to try learn about demand planning and demand planners. The Quantiful Product Manager is a demand planner, so I was able to get a crash course as well as go on a few potential site visits to watch and talk to other demand planners that she knew.

It became apparent that these people had been living their jobs for decades. Knowledge is in their heads and they do all of their work in Spreadsheets.

Trust was going to be an issue. No one was going to believe a set of figures forecasting hundreds of thousands of $$ in sales generated by AI straight away, so we couldn't just publish a forecast page.

As well as being able to quickly see Customer social activity and any corresponding buying patterns, the ability to cross reference and check forecasts, sales histories, and their own KPI's was needed to inspire trust in Quantiful's brilliant Algorithms

A Solution from scratch in 7 sprints (and no christmas)

We needed an at a glance presentation to a deeply investigative and reactive software with a huge amount of calculation - in four and a half months. To this end I set about sketching ideas and wireframing a potentially bewildering set of navigation possibilities - very quickly. User testing was primarily done in-house, but prototypes were put in front of clients such as 2Degrees. I made a painted wireframe click through in XD and more testing and discussions were had.

Problems were discovered and solutions came from all directions as our team, consisting of three coders, Product manager and myself, worked fantastically well together in a high pressure environment to produce a large but minimum as possible set of functionality for a proffesional and user friendly browser based tool.
